Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

What is Qerrier?

Qerrier is a platform connecting people in Singapore ("Requesters") who want items from Johor Bahru, Malaysia, with individuals already traveling between the two locations ("Carriers"). Carriers purchase the items, transport them, and hand them over to Requesters for a reward.

Is using Qerrier legal?

Yes, the platform facilitates peer-to-peer assistance. However, all users are responsible for ensuring the items requested and transported comply with customs regulations of both Singapore and Malaysia. This includes the legal responsibility for Carriers to declare goods via the relevant customs app and pay any applicable taxes (like GST). Requesting or carrying prohibited items (like tobacco or excessive alcohol) is strictly forbidden.

For Requesters (Buyers)

How does payment work? Is it safe?

Our system is very safe. When a Carrier accepts your offer, you authorize a payment hold (like an escrow) via our secure partner, Stripe. Your card is not charged yet. Only after the Carrier submits a receipt, you approve the final amount, receive the item, and provide the Exchange Code is the payment finalized. This protects both you and the Carrier.

Why do I need to provide my Full Legal Name?

To comply with Singapore customs law, your Carrier is legally required to declare all goods they are bringing into the country for you. They must use your Full Legal Name on the official customs declaration form (via the SG Customs web app). Qerrier protects this information; it's stored securely and is only shared with your confirmed Carrier after your payment is authorized.

What happens if the final price is different?

The Carrier will upload the receipt showing the actual cost. If it's higher than your initial authorization, you'll be asked to re-authorize the new, higher amount. If it's the same or less, you just approve it, and you'll only be charged the lower final amount upon completion.

What is the Exchange Code?

It's a 6-digit code generated after you approve the final receipt. You ONLY give this code to the Carrier when you meet them and have inspected and accepted the item. Giving them the code finalizes the payment release. Keep it secret, keep it safe!

What if the Carrier brings the wrong item?

Do NOT provide the Exchange Code. This is your protection. The code signifies your final acceptance of the item. You must discuss the issue with the Carrier directly in the chat to arrange a resolution. Qerrier provides the platform for this negotiation but does not mediate disputes about item quality or accuracy. See the "What if I have a dispute..." question below.

What is the cancellation policy?

You can cancel for free within 6 hours of authorizing the payment hold, as long as the Carrier hasn't submitted a receipt yet. After 6 hours, or if the Carrier has submitted a receipt, a cancellation fee applies to compensate the Carrier. You can initiate cancellation via the options menu in the chat.

For Carriers (Travelers)

How do I become a Carrier?

Sign up for an account. Then, go to your Profile and click "Setup Payouts". You'll be guided through setting up a Stripe merchant account to receive payments. This is a one-time setup and is required before you can start accepting jobs.

How and when do I get paid?

After you successfully hand over the item and enter the Requester's 6-digit Exchange Code, the transaction is complete. Qerrier will initiate the payout to your linked bank account automatically. Due to Stripe's mandatory 7-day settlement period for funds in Singapore, it typically takes around 8 calendar days from the time of completion for the funds to reach your bank account. You will receive reimbursement for the item cost (plus GST you paid) and the agreed reward, minus a small platform service fee (i.e. 5% of your reward).

What about GST and customs declarations?

This is critical. As the Carrier, you are legally responsible for declaring all goods you bring into Singapore via the official customs web app and paying any applicable GST. Get the Requester's Full Legal Name from their profile (available after the job is active) to use for the declaration. Keep your receipts. When you submit the final cost in Qerrier, enter the final item cost excluding the GST you paid as GST is added automatically.

When should I purchase the item?

Only purchase the item AFTER the Requester has successfully authorized the payment hold. You will receive a system message in the chat confirming it as "Payment authorized!".

How do I find my Request ID for a job?

When viewing the job details or the chat, look at the URL in your browser's address bar. The Request ID is the string of characters after ?requestId=.

Fees, Safety & Disputes

What are the fees?

Qerrier aims for transparency.

  • Requesters pay the item cost (plus 9% GST), the Carrier's reward plus a platform service & processing fee. The total, final amount is always shown to you before you authorize.
  • Carriers receive the full item cost reimbursement (plus GST) and their full reward, minus a small service fee on the reward amount.

How does Qerrier keep transactions safe?

We use several layers of protection:

  • Secure Payment Hold: We use Stripe's secure escrow system so no money is released until the job is done.
  • Carrier Verification: Carriers must set up a valid Stripe payout account before they can accept jobs. To do that, they will go through a secure KYC process.
  • Exchange Code: The 6-digit code is the Requester's final confirmation that they have received the item.
  • Chat Logs: All communication is kept on-platform to be used as a record for users to resolve their own disputes.

What should I do for a safe handover?

We strongly recommend meeting in a well-lit, public place like an MRT station or a coffee shop. Avoid meeting at secluded areas. Always inspect the item (if you are the Requester) before providing the Exchange Code.

What if I have a dispute with the other user?

Qerrier is a platform that facilitates a peer-to-peer transaction; we do not mediate disputes regarding the items themselves (such as wrong item, damage, or authenticity). Users are responsible for resolving these issues directly via the in-app chat.

  • Requester's Protection: Your protection is to not provide the 6-digit Exchange Code until you are 100% satisfied. The code is your final acceptance.
  • Carrier's Protection: Your protection is to not purchase an item until the Requester has authorized the payment hold.
  • Contact Support For: You can contact Qerrier support (support@qerrier.com) for technical platform issues, payment/payout problems, or user harassment.
